Fashion Accessories on a Budget - Tips for Ways to Save on Accessories
The truth is that the right accessories can turn even a plain old boring outfit into a show stopper. The problem is that accessories can get expensive. Even relatively inexpensive belts, purses, jewelry and scarves can add up quickly and before you know it you can easily spend more on your accessories than you did on your outfit!
Don’t fret, though. There are some easy ways to accessorize an outfit and stay stylish without breaking the bank. Here are some tips to find fashion accessories on a budget.
Buy Pieces with Multiple Uses
Lots of accessories can be used for more than one thing. A great example is a scarf. You can wear it on your head, around your neck or tie it on as a belt. A long necklace can be worn long, doubled and worn short, possibly tripled to wear as a choker or wrapped around your wrist to make a bracelet.
When you are shopping for accessories keep an open mind and think about other ways that each item could be used to get the most bang for your buck.
Avoid Really Trendy Pieces
To get the most use out of an accessory and really get your money’s worth, shop for classic pieces that won’t go out of style at the end of the season. Trendy accessories may be fun, but if you have to replace them next year you’ll just wind up spending more money. Classic pieces, though, are always in and can serve you well for years.
Stay Neutral
It’s a good idea to play it safe like Switzerland when buying accessories on a budget. Avoid buying bright colors or patterns that only will work with one outfit. Instead, look for neutral pieces like gold or silver jewelry, brown, black or navy handbags or shoes and basic belts that will work with many outfits. If you want to splurge and get a few fun colored or funky pieces that’s fine - just be sure you have your basics covered too.
Shop Thrift Stores, Garage Sales, Estate Sales or Vintage Shops
You can find some true treasures if you hunt for accessories at thrift stores, garage and estate sales or vintage shops. The best part about going this route is that you never know what you may find! A lot of times you can happen upon designer bags or jewelry at unheard of prices, beautiful or unique vintage pieces to add flair to an outfit or classy items you may not normally have thought about. Since you are saving so much money you can afford to go a little crazy so this is the perfect solution for the accessories-junkie who just can’t get enough.
